Salut et Fraternite

July 14

4mi, 28:01 (7:00/mi): Shortcut. Always a bad decision to ignore the 6am alarm during a heat wave, especially in mid-July. Because in mid-July the odds are greatly increased that the heat wave will correspond with a bunch of wobblies storming your city, chanting "One Big Union!" and "Take That Prison!" while demanding that cold press and coffee makers be re-distributed to everyone in the Estates General. Am planning to spend the rest of the day wondering, "What is the Third Estate?" and "If the ox dies, can she pull the plow?"

Saturday: Paddle and Portage
With Dan Schroeder. 1.5 miles on Mendota was croweded and was seriously worried about two nearly elderly women who were keeping pace with us. ~25-30th out of the water, then passed ~15 on the 1.5 mile (12:33 split) portage around the capitol. Then 1.5 miles on Monona for 50:09 and 3rd in the division. Not bad for rookies, but I'd hoped for better. The portage was certainly our strongest point. Oooooh

Saturday pt 2: Paoli Ride
30 miles of covering Steljes' surges and working the pace line. Unbelievably good considering the elements we faced.

Sunday: Running with J
Pseudo long run of 9ish. Sore as hell.
