So Be Easy And Free/When You're Drinkin' With Me

October 22

16mi, 1:47:44 (6:44/mi): Fishouse Ext. Beautiful run. Very glad to get out the door and to stay out the door for so long. Even felt pretty good. I should do more of this running. Congratulations, Stelljes!

Week: 50mi. Right.

October 21

8mi, 50:48 (6:21/mi): LS8 + xtra. Yeah, I know.

October 20

8mi, 52:20 (6:32/mi): LS8 + xtra. Good easy run...although not a workokut...

October 19

8mi, 1:00:12 (7:30ish): Lake St with LSCC. Slar and easy before a thrilling game seven of the AAAA-LCS.

Thursday: ditto what Tom done said.

Saturday: 8, Lake O' The Isles. Probably around an hour.

Sunday: thought about running, didn't. Instead, 51xbeer-bottling. We'll see how things fare on that front in a few weeks...

Fri 10/20 10ish in Buffalo. Lots of trees down. Bad neighborhoods abound around the downtown.

Sat 10/21 Good interveiw, questionable school. Registered for Niagara Falls International Half 1 hour before close of registration. Ran the risk of being denied re-entry to the US.

Sun 10/22 17. Crossed the Niagara into Canada on foot in the dark, and under 40° rainy skies. Traveling light: only wind brief and shorts, LS top, hat and gloves, trainers, poncho, $0.50 customs fee, and 2x picture ID. Shuttled to start 2 hours early. Stayed mostly dry and somewhat warm. Talked to lots of nice people. Warmup in garbage bag poncho, discarded at start. We start, rain stops. 10 Africans run off the front. 10 local boys slowly fall apart. Some masters and I settle in. Lack of sleep catches up to me by 4 miles. The lead woman also catches up to me. I drop my $0.50 on the shoulder and have to loop back. I damn the Canadian customs, she appoligises. The masters have failed, so I run with the woman. The miles pass in even pace. I'm feeling fine now. She and I don't talk, but it is clear that we are running together. Feet come up from behind at 11.5. A hard charging woman throws us down. I spend it on a downhill charge to catch the newcomer. She drops the hammer. I hit the rapids. I try to keep pushing as effortlessly and as violently as the water plunging over the gorge. The view is stunning from the Canadian side. Amazing finish to an unexpected run. 1:17:57. Then got the FOH.

I cannot spell apologize. I never could. I suck at spelling.

Tuesday: AM workout, again I was the only one to show. Arb loop, 6.5 with Matt. Middle miles at 8:06, :03, 7:35, :30. Felt awesome but tired toward the end, not surprising this was the same loop I did as a long run on Sunday.

Happy to have gotten out this morning after the worst headache ever at 3AM made me want to cry. Damn head.
