Tell it to me

February 4

16mi, 1:45:32 (6:36/mi): Carleton Rec Ctr. Aprx 60min WU w/Dan & some of Jessica's workout. Then 16x200m, 200m jog recovery, CD. Felt good, OK on the 200s. The last few started to feel a little long.

Week: 80mi.

February 3

12mi, 1:22:30 (6:52/mi): Treadmill 12. Biz didn't join me for some reason.

February 2

10mi, 1:06:45 (6:40/mi): LS8 into Shortcut Reverse. Easy like Nick Mascioli.

Day Off. Planned.

10 (not sure) Rec Ctr Track. 800 WU, stretching, 8 miles or so in 55:59, including 2 miles in 6:47 and 6:39 with Jessica. Then 4x 200 with 200 jog probably no faster than 35s. Then 800 CD just to make it even. Felt pretty good- it's amazing what 75 degrees will do. Meant to do just 8, but felt good, so added the 200s.

Week: 42 miles/ 6 days. Feeling good, but sticking to the slow-growth plan.

8 (55:50) A&W Mod+ Twice around the golf course. I wanted the option to make it six if necessary, for either cold or feeling crappy reasons. Fortunately, I didn't need to exercise that option. In other news, the "I'm goin down" song is hard.

don't purposefully misuse "due to" just to piss me off. that doesn't help anything.

Five more days o' skiing. Cool. No running... I DID, however, get accepted into the Wasatch 100. I will be stepping boldly into my kicks again soon!

8 (54ish) LS8, LSCC. Good company. Good times. Good food. Good cold.

8 (56:02) A&W 2Mod. 2 GC loops, optioning again to go 8 rather than 6. Felt good, if slower than in a while. It actually felt pretty quick, effort-wise, but the footing disagreed with my effort. Also 1 set sprint drills on the GC.

I name the run I did today the Nine Miles of the Big Hawk and Bleeding Ears. I name it thusly because I ran nine miles, saw a big hawk, and had a jarring sensation of it being so cold that my eardrums exploded.
Included 3 miles in 6:35, 6:32, 6:26. Someone got kind of out of shape and his or her last name rhymes with Pillaci.

8 (54:43) Stone Arch 8. Ran with Phil, which was a nice change, since most of my runs save LSCC have been solo for a while. Also, I'm starting to feel like 8 miles is a distance I've run quite a bit recently.

Feb 9
8 (56:15) A&W Mod+ Solo, like I said. One set of sprint drills, and one set of running down the steep hill on the GC, which I have been walking down on account of the knee. This time it felt fine, so I think we'll start reintegrating some of the hills I've been avoiding... And that whole 5 straight 8 milers thing is over, I hope.

10 (?) Carleton Rec Ctr. Same as last week: 800 WU, 8 miles (or 55:55), 4x 200 with a 200 jog, 800 CD. Timed the last 200 in 34, which really isn't terribly fast. There weren't too many more gears, but I wasn't top end either. Nice to get inside again, where it's some 75 degrees warmer than outside.

Day off. Planned.

Week: 50 miles/6 days. Still feeling pretty good, except that I can tell now that I'm not in shape. But I'm happy to be feeling the out-of-shape discomfort, rather than the there's-something-wrong-with-me discomfort.

Feb 12
10 (1:12:09, I think) MTPO Rev. Ran with Biz for the first time in a while, and neither one of us was 1. rested; 2. fed sufficiently; 3. feeling it. But it was probably a good thing. Plus it's a bit warmer today, which is nice.

Hmmm. I ran 3 times this week. Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday. Skiied many days as well including a good 3.5 hr skate in slow snow. Saturday's 7mi run was awfully painful all things considered... Still, progress. 13 miles for the week!
